ELR Shooting Bench Top

We stretched our Original (OG) DOA Tabletop by a whole five inches — because nothing says “extreme long range” quite like an extra handspan of real estate for those long-barreled Creedmoors, Lapuas, CheyTacs, and BMGs that clearly couldn’t be bothered with the old dimensions. The new top measures a luxurious 48″ × 29″.

After years of polite (and not-so-polite) requests for more length, we finally caved and created the DOA Extreme Long Range Tabletop. It’s built to handle the heavier, longer rifles — .50 BMG, .338 Lapua, and their equally dramatic cousins — that longer-distance shooters insist on using. We even added a rotating ELR-Strut Support system underneath, because apparently bigger guns and fatter sandbags need a little extra moral support to stay upright. The ELR Strut exists to prop up the far end of your shooting bench and gift you that extra whisper of stability so your shots land in roughly the same ZIP code more consistently. We’ve been cheerfully punching targets past a mile on our original OG bench for years without this magical stick, but for those of you who believe every last micro-ounce of rigidity is the missing key to becoming a better shooter… here you go. Enjoy the placebo.

All of our tabletops are still made from honest 1.5 inch maple or birch plywood. Weight lands somewhere between 32–38 pounds depending on how dense that particular tree decided to be that day. The upper sheet is longer and the lower one shorter, so the ELR version weighs about the same as the original. Whether it’s fancy engineering, or just us refusing to make the thing any heavier than necessary, we’ll never tell.

And yes, each tabletop is unique in its natural wood grain and texture — just like every other piece of wood that’s ever existed.

You’ve got two bench-top options: natural wood or our custom camo netting finish. Around here we prefer the natural wood look, but apparently some people see bare wood and assume we just forgot to finish the job. So we created the camo version for them. The only real difference is that the camo option gets a coat of paint. Both tops then receive a weather-resistant coating. Note “resistant,” not weather-proof because we’re honest about what it will and won’t survive.

The ELR Tripod is forged from high-grade industrial steel, because lighter materials have this charming habit of flexing under recoil and casually relocating your point of impact with every shot. Ours is rated to hold 500 pounds or more, so it can laugh off a 400-pound shooter plus all their gear without breaking a sweat. At roughly 35 pounds it’s not exactly featherweight, but then again neither is the rifle you’re putting on it. Every steel part gets a full powder-coat treatment so it can survive the apocalypse (or at least several seasons of hard use). Fully extended it stands 37 inches tall; folded it drops to 32 inches and collapses into a surprisingly compact package for transport—because nothing says “convenient” like a 35-pound steel tripod that still somehow folds up.

From the very beginning we *brilliantly* chose the three-legged design for leveling purposes—because apparently the universe still hasn’t invented perfectly flat ground, and four legs would just be showing off. Our DOA Tripods feature a sophisticated three-position elevation adjustment on each leg, thoughtfully engineered so you can stop pretending the hillside is level or that gravity somehow works differently when you’re shooting uphill or downhill. Each leg can now be independently raised or lowered to conquer uneven terrain, or to hoist (or drop) the entire system a whole plus or minus 3 inches—because nothing says precision engineering like a dramatic three-inch vertical adventure. To dumb this down, if you’re parked in a field and one leg decides it needs to sit lower than the other two thanks to the terrain’s personal vendetta against you, the shooter can simply adjust that single rebellious leg instead of performing interpretive dance moves with the whole setup. Revolutionary, really.

The DOA Extreme Long Range Bench was built for the heavier, longer-barreled Creedmoors, Lapuas, CheyTacs, BMGs, and whatever else long-range shooters insist on dragging to the range. We added our new ELR Strut Support system after realizing that stretching the top by five inches created a lovely little tipping problem. Longer guns wanted to dive for the dirt, so we gave the front of the bench something sturdy to lean on. Think of it as mechanical parenting for oversized firearms.

The seat arm spins on an adjustable locking collar and offers about 25 inches of height travel on the tripod post, so you can finally match the bench to your preferred shooting posture instead of contorting yourself into it. It comes with our standard 13 × 2.5-inch round HD furniture-foam seat—dense enough that you can sit on it all day without developing that familiar numb-and-sore feeling that turns a fun range session into an endurance test. The seat itself rotates a full 360 degrees, letting you track targets or make adjustments without the theatrical stand-up-and-shuffle routine.

One of the smarter design choices (if we do say so ourselves) is that the seat, strut, and tabletop can all rotate independently without you ever leaving the chair. Whether you’re zeroing or hunting, you can change angles on the fly instead of rebuilding the entire setup every time the target moves. Efficiency, thy name is not having to stand up.

What’s in the Shipment

What arrives in the shipment: three boxes. Let us say that again, because it seems to surprise (confuse) people — three boxes per ELR order.

One contains the bench top. One holds the tripod assembly and related bench-top parts. The last one carries the ELR strut and hardware.

And every now and then we slip a few extra goodies into one of the boxes that you ordered so you don’t have to pay another shipping charge just to get your stuff. We could have tried to cram everything into fewer boxes, but then you’d just end up wrestling with a single oversized brick. Three boxes it is.
